What Is a PDF Watermark?

A PDF watermark is text or an image overlaid across the pages of a PDF document. Watermarks are commonly used to mark documents as confidential, draft, or proprietary. A tiled watermark repeats the text in a grid pattern across the entire page, making it difficult to remove or ignore.

How to Add a Watermark to a PDF

  • Upload your PDF file using the file picker above
  • Enter your watermark text (e.g., "CONFIDENTIAL", "DRAFT", "DO NOT COPY")
  • Adjust font size, color, opacity, and rotation angle to your preference
  • Set horizontal and vertical spacing to control the tile density
  • Click "Preview Watermark" to see how it looks on the first page
  • Click "Apply Watermark" to process all pages, then download the result

Why Use Tiled Watermarks?

Tiled watermarks cover the entire page in a repeating grid pattern, providing better document protection than a single centered watermark. They are harder to crop out or remove and clearly communicate the document's status regardless of which part of the page is visible.
